Why should we all become farmers

Damas y lagartos, con ustedes el speech de Haim Cotlear (directamente copiado del documento que candidamente me mando):

Why should we all become farmers

Ladies and Gentlement,

Now that we have to start making up our minds about what are going to study I thought it would be the perfect time to bring up an issue which I know most of us have thought about but are too embarrassed to tell others. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I will talk about why we should all become farmers. And I don’t mean farmers as in farm-owning businessmen or someone who gives orders to farmers, I mean a real, seed-sowing, soil-turning, cow-milking farmers. First, I will begin to talk about the reasons why we should become farmers, and then I will close with some tips to get you started on the farming rollercoaster.

I will start with a quote from the famous philosopher Lennie Small: “…And we will live outta the fat o’ the land”. First, being a farmer gives you the opportunity to grow (or rear) your own food. This is good for many reasons. You don’t have to depend on others to feed, so you can send your grocer, baker and other farmers to hell at the same time. Also, and people here who cook or bake know about this, eating the food you make is 4 times more rewarding. PLUS YOU CAN GROW AND REAR ANYTHING YOU WANT. YOU CAN RAISE KANGAROOS, CROCODILES AND PLANT ONLY BANANA TREES IF YOU LIKE BANANAS.

SECOND, it’s much cheaper. Hell, you can even say goodbye to any type of currency after you establish your farm. Just plant some orange trees next to a river, and get a couple of duck and they will sustain themselves. Then, you’ll be having free canard a l’orange every day.

Third, there is the exercise you will get out of working the land. Plough, rake, shovel, hoe, and you can say goodbye to those expensive gym memberships. It’s not only good for your health, but also relaxing. Just close your eyes and picture yourself in the countryside, with the clear blue skies, and the tall mountains, harvesting some lettuce.

If you like animals, this is definitely your thing. You’ll have the chance to have first-hand contact with the farm animals milk the cow, ride the horse, and milk the kangaroo.

Now I know you must be all excited with becoming farmers and starting your own farm, but calm down. The first thing you have to do is turn your backyard into a little farm. This will get you the experience you need so that in a couple of years you can start planting those tomatoes. Then, maybe get a couple of rabbits so that you can maybe start trying to breed them together and milk them. This will get you the necessary experience with animals. One year planting tomatoes and raising rabbits and BAM you’re ready. Buy a little patch of land and say goodbye to all of life’s worries.

Thank
